The Challenge

How might engage young people with an app for discovering places to go out?

Problem statement

Argentine millennials don't use any app to find places.

Proposal

Transform how we find places to go out.
Design a collaborative application where comments are a powerful tool to find places but at the same time the experience of using it has to be attractive and fun for them.

Summary Outcomes

Let's get to work

Our users: Argentine millennials

Interviews

It was decided to conduct an interview with 5 users with the main objective of:

  • To know the user in depth.
  • To understand the entire journey that the user takes to decide where to go.

Due to the pandemic, people prefer not to have direct contact, so an online interview with them was used.

Oportunity

We must strive to display the most relevant information in a different way compared to our competitors.

Our goal is to make the process of discovering a place enjoyable and thrilling, rather than boring and annoying.

In what context would the user use the app?

Most of the millennials prefers weekends at night to go out. Before the pandemic, venues were open all night. Today they close at 2 or 3 in the morning, for this reason the user go out earlier.

Who are our possible competitors?

After Interviews I found that the user don’t use any app to find places, but I found a differents options on the market that offers the similar service.

  • Direct
  • miBsAs (Local)
  • Facebook Events (Local)
  • Foursquare
  • Evenbrite
  • Indirect
  • Zonart (Local app for recitals and shows)
  • Zibilia (Local app for theater)

Highlights

These applications are usable but not desirable.

Ideation

What applications are easy and attractive to use?

Dating apps, Tiktok and Stories are very easy and addicting to use.
These apps have intelligently developed how to keep the user inside the application.

Some of the strongest components are:

First Idea

In this sketch I focus on two main things: First, use swipe to see more places. Second, show recent comments to quickly give the user some context about the place.

Style Guide

"Lets" always implies an action. After it we usually add a verb because we associate it with "doing something". "Lets" proposes an action, and it’s short and easy to remember.

Logo

After doing interviews, I found that when people plan to go out, they talk to friends about the best options. With this in mind, I used 2 figures, one represents the action of speaking and the second represents people in motion.

Let's start!

Next steps

To assess whether this prototype meets the needs of Argentine millennials for their social outings, I recommend the following steps:

  • Conduct usability testing with target users to gather feedback.
  • Iterate on the prototype based on user feedback and usability findings.
  • Develop a functional prototype with basic features for further testing.
  • Conduct beta testing with a small group of users to validate the prototype
  • Gather feedback from beta testers to identify improvements and refinements.
  • Prepare for app launch by finalizing features, content, and marketing materials.
